Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter option)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chives, chopped (optional)

  2. Boil the Potatoes: Place potato chunks in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Check for Doneness: Cook until tender when pierced with a fork, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.
  4. Mash It Up: Return potatoes to the pot, add butter, and mash until smooth.
  5. Add Cream & Seasonings: Gradually mix in heavy cream, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Transfer mashed potatoes to a serving bowl, garnish with chives if desired, and serve warm.
