  • 1 can (5 oz) solid white albacore tuna, drained
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices whole wheat bread (or your choice)
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix drained tuna with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, onion, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side, spread the tuna mixture and top with shredded cheese. Place another slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the skillet once hot.
  4. Grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Press gently with a spatula for even cooking.
  5. Cover briefly with a lid to melt the cheese completely—about 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, then slice diagonally and serve warm.
