  • 4 bone-in chicken pieces (thighs and drumsticks)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying (enough to cover chicken)

Instructions

  1. Rinse chicken under cold water and pat dry. Place in a bowl or zip-top bag.
  2. Pour buttermilk over the chicken until submerged. Marinate in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk and let excess liquid drip off. Dredge in the seasoned flour mixture until coated.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet to about 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry chicken pieces for 12–15 minutes per side until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
