- 4 large Russet potatoes (about 2 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a skillet, sauté the sliced onion and minced garlic in butter over medium heat until soft (about 5 minutes).
- In a bowl, combine heavy cream with sautéed onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Layer potato slices in the greased dish; pour cream mixture over each layer until all ingredients are used.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, add remaining cheddar on top, then bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Allow to rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
