- 3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté diced chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper until golden brown; remove from heat.
- In a saucepan, melt remaining butter and stir in flour; gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Add cream cheese and cheddar, stirring until smooth.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked macaroni, sautéed chicken, and cheese sauce; mix well.
- Transfer to the greased baking dish, top with breadcrumbs if desired, and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
