Ingredients

  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: breadcrumbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté diced chicken breast seasoned with salt and pepper until golden brown; remove from heat.
  4. In a saucepan, melt remaining butter and stir in flour; gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Add cream cheese and cheddar, stirring until smooth.
  5. In a large bowl, combine cooked macaroni, sautéed chicken, and cheese sauce; mix well.
  6. Transfer to the greased baking dish, top with breadcrumbs if desired, and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden.
